MA-NMWA Members are invited to join A Conversation with Jameson Johnson, a writer, curator, and community organizer based in Boston. She is the founder and executive director of Boston Art Review (BAR), an online and print publication founded in 2017. BAR is committed to facilitating discourse around contemporary art and culture through publishing, programming, and events in Boston and beyond. “

“For us, success is measured directly by the artists, writers, and readers we serve, but also by the very intangible ways in which our work encourages these individuals and reminds them that their work is seen and valued both in Boston and beyond.” Jameson Johnson, Founder & Executive Director

We will meet Jameson at the BAR offices on Tremont Street in the South End to learn about her mission and the journey to creating BAR. We will hear about her most recent project, RADAR, a first-of-its-kind print and interactive guide for connecting people to the cultural spaces that shape Greater Boston’s visual arts community. From artist-run spaces and studio buildings to galleries and museums, Radar is an on-the-ground guide driven by neighborhoods rather than destinations.

After our visit to the Boston Art Review we will have the opportunity of a pre-opening tour of Ritual Practice | Sacred Space at The Beehive, with curator Robin Hauck, Founder and Editor of Misstropolis. The exhibition features ten Boston area women artists: Venetia Dale, Samantha Fields, L'Merchie Frazier, Rachel Perry, Crystalle LaCouture, Daniela Rivera, Sneha Shrestha, Safarani Sisters, and Brooke Stewart. The Beehive is a vital platform for Boston-area and nationally recognized artists, reaching audiences beyond the traditional gallery circuit. Stay after the art tour for a self-treat drink and snack.

Current MA-NMWA Members will have advance registration for this special event until January 5, 2026, at which time registration will open to everyone.

This visit will involve stairs.
